Horticulture
programs are of major interest in Rusk County. Aliesha R. Crowe,
Agriculture Agent and Tom Kurth, Horticulture Assistant provide educational programs in Horticulture
year-round with the assistance of the Rusk County Master Gardeners and the members of two local garden clubs.
The Bruce Garden Club meets the third Saturday of each month at 9:00a.m. The Rusk County Gardeners meet the second Thursday of each month at 6:00p.m. New members are always welcome.

On Saturday, June 16, 2007, garden club members toured Fina Gardens in Hillsdale, WI. Fina Gardens is owned by Sam and Helen Finazzo. Sam and Helen have approximately 6,000 peony plants. They sell cut flower stems to wholesale florists for floral arrangements. Beginning in 2008, they will also sell rootstock peonies. Check out these photos of Fina Gardens and our tour.

Sam and Helen grow beautiful tree peonies. These plants are either two or three years old.
The white peonies are a unique variety with a yellow center. I think they would make great cut flowers for arrangements!
