Kayla Hattamer, Healthy Lifestyles chair and UW-Extension Wisconsin Nutrition Education Program Coordinator

Healthy Lifestyles for Rusk County will support our partners, community, and limited resource families and individuals to encourage healthy food choices and physical activity.

  • Both healthy eating and physical activity must be addressed to reduce the risk of chronic disease, including obesity.
  • Approaches to increasing healthy lifestyles must be based on sound scientific principles.
  • We believe that adults must accept responsibility to provide positive role modeling for children by practicing healthy eating and physical activity habits.
  • We acknowledge the importance of delivering consistent messages regarding healthy eating and physical activity throughout the community.
  • All foods can fit in a healthy diet. Everything in moderation.
  • We support our community partners in reaching their target populations.
  • We will recognize differences in people when encouraging behavior change. (i.e., age, socio-economic status, health status, culture, etc…)
  • We value changes in community that will support long-term healthy lifestyles habits.
